Our home and studio
for the week
Our 1825 historic chateau is spectacularly restored, decorated and located in a small village called Poigny-la-Foret, about 25 minutes from Paris. There are spacious living and dining areas and park-like grounds, and the beautiful Foret de Rambouillet surrounds us - perfect for walking or riding bikes. There is wonderful space for our studio art projects. Each guest has a beautiful private room.
Explore, Create, Learn.
You will find yourself in a safe space to ponder, to try new things, to inspire and be inspired by the atmosphere, your fellow artists, and your expressive art facilitators, Cindy and Abby.
You will get an in-depth overview and fun, unique insights into works that we visit in Paris, and have a chance to explore the rest of each museum. Then on studio days, we will present clear guidelines for the project inspired by our visit. There will be ample studio and free time all week to continue to work on projects. And, if you would rather relax on the lawn or take a bike ride, feel free!
The experience.
The Château de Poigny is a magical place where it is a joy to spend time and hard to leave. The days are punctuated with the 12th century Eglise St. Pierre church bells chiming and the calls of cuckoos and pheasants. The trees on the grounds are simply majestic. While we love to explore the countryside and Paris, time spent chez nous is something special.
Alyce (Paris Art Adventure, 2022) wrote,
Leaving the city behind, I arrive at Rue De L’Ēglise after driving through the iconic tree-lined French countryside. Walking through the gate of the ancient stone walls of the château, I instantly felt awe-struck looking upon the exterior of this exquisite property full of history. My shoulders and face relaxed, and I began to breathe. I was warmly welcomed into my new home by women of all ages and stages of life who would soon become lifelong friends. Cindy showed me to my room, where the doorknob was adorned with a watercolor nametag painted by Abby. Inside I discovered a spacious room with a large bed, crisp white linens, and a balcony next to a medieval church steeple overlooking the front of the château.
On one of my favorite days, we were all sprawled out on the lawn beneath the gigantic, hundred-year-old trees, music playing in the background; we painted, collaged, and daydreamed all afternoon. A farmer’s market salad dressed with shallot vinaigrette, next to warm baguettes and a heaping bowl of sweet strawberries, was served for our lunch.
Our brilliant and charming Chef Laurent serves us delicious fresh, classic French meals and the wine to go along with it!
We promise FUN + COMFORT + CREATIVITY on every trip!

Your hosts with the most.
We are partners in Bohemia, an art studio in Boulder, Colorado. Abby has been empowering people creatively and leading art retreats all over Colorado for years. Cindy has led many informal trips to her childhood home of Paris, has lived and traveled extensively abroad, and knows the ins and outs of Paris. We love bringing art to people, and people to art!
"If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young (wo)man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you,
for Paris is a moveable feast."
